From brokenness to freedom, found through worship and dance.
A Heavenly Father who is safe, kind, and utterly transforming.
Even though I had been a Christian for many years, I wasn't living in the wonderful freedom that is promised to us by Jesus. It was only when I became mentally unwell, that I became increasingly aware of the heavy burdens I carried around with me – shame, depression, not being good enough, unforgiveness, pride and guilt, to name a few. On my journey towards wholeness, I have encountered a God who loves and sees us, and longs to have an intimate relationship with us. Learning that my Heavenly Father is safe and kind has transformed my life.
A joyful, renewed freedom to worship through dance.
I am passionate about helping others begin to step into that promised freedom. I share in my memoir, Two Hearts Dancing, my journey through childhood abuse, a major bereavement, emotional struggles, and severe mental illness to overcoming the battle for my mind.
I never imagined that one day God would renew my desire to worship Him through dance, with a freedom I had never had before. Worship and prayer are our powerful weapons to bring down strongholds not only in ourselves but our homes, churches and cities. Two Hearts Dancing
When seven-year-old Tamsin was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour, her parents were devastated. Trusting God, Mands and Steve saw His gracious hand at work, and when their daughter finally went to be with Him, their story inspired many.
But losing Tamsin was just the beginning. Grief triggered repressed emotions – and then abusive memories – from when Mands herself was a girl, leaving her own 'good' childhood in tatters. Overwhelmed and unable to cope, she spiralled into severe depression, self-harm and repeated attempts to take her own life.
Yet her heavenly Father never left her, and through Steve's unstinting support and the ministry of others, she gradually came to terms with the past. With her love of dance and worship reignited, Mands found healing for Tamsin's loss, and the trauma she had experienced as a child, making Two Hearts Dancing an extraordinary witness to the enduring, intimate love of God.
"Two Hearts Dancing" is the celebration of one woman's journey through the dark valleys of grief, abuse, depression and desperation into healing and wholeness. It is courageously honest, which makes it so compelling. A lifeline to those who are struggling and a celebration of the victory that is ours in Christ Jesus. It's the story that needs to be read.
